Spencer CarlessWe are excited to announce that Kinesiologist, Spencer Carless, has joined our Capilano Rehab Team!  He is a professional in the area of therapeutic exercise therapy.  We previously had the opportunity to have Spencer at our Clinic for his practicum placement for his Kinesiology Degree through the University of Alberta, and now he is working with us on a daily basis.

As a Kinesiologist, Spencer specializes in the scientific study of human movement, and addresses physiological, mechanical and strength mechanisms.  Exercise has been proven to be beneficial for many things including flexibility, core strengthening, functional strength and movement balance.  With his expertise, Spencer will work alongside our Therapy Team to develop a custom made exercise recovery program that is right for you and your injury or condition.  His one on one care helps maintain and further the pain relief progress our Therapists have made, and will help you stay injury free in the future with your own home program.

In addition to one on one care, Capilano’s exercise patients have access to the state-of-the-art BIODEX Multi-Joint Isokinetic exercise unit.  The BIODEX can help you get range of motion movements that your injuries would not let you to do on your own.  And it can allow you to do isokinetic strengthening which allows you to only push as hard as you can safely tolerate.  We have found great success with the BIODEX® as an effective tool to help post-operative patients, especially knee and shoulder surgeries, with their speedy recovery.  The unique safety features of BIODEX® allow you to get a computerized rehab program that is customized to meet your current recovery status.  Capilano believes in modern treatments and the BIODEX® system is an important part of the new generation therapy offered at Capilano.

Spencer will be seeing patients between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, so next time you are here you will see him helping patients in the gym!

About the Author ()

I am Capilano Rehab Centre’s Community Care Coordinator. I have been with Capilano Rehab for 9 years primarily as a Physio Assistant, but also as a Receptionist. I have a Physical Education Degree from the University of Alberta, which I will eventually use when my two young children are grown up. In the mean time I am enjoying helping people in the Community through my role as Community Care Coordinator and bringing awareness to how a Physiotherapist can help you get back to the activities you love the most!
